On August 1, 2018, Albany Records released “Line Drawings,” a portrait album dedicated to the chamber music of John Liberatore.
The disc includes five premiere recordings of works written since 2015, featuring: Ryan MacEvoy McCullough, the Mivos Quartet, Duo Damiana, Bent Frequency, Jamie Jordan, and Daniel Druckman. At the conclusion of the album, Liberatore appears as a performer on the glass harmonica. This marks his debut recording on the instrument.
Liberatore describes the album in the CD liner notes: “… the works on this portrait album are an eclectic mélange of instrumentations and affects, sometimes whimsical or wistful, dark or light. … In writing these pieces, I strove for a transparency of texture and multiplicity through restraint.”
